Prime Minister Theresa May has announced that a General Election will be held on June 8th 2017.
In the United Kingdom, the electorate votes for its local Member of Parliament, and the leader of the party with the largest number of MPs in the House of Commons thus becomes Prime Minister, the Head of Government.
Because people in other countries can't really be expected to choose from hundreds of obscure local MPs or to vote for a political party, assembly elections of this sort aren't really suitable for the Global Vote. So, as with the recent Dutch General Election, we will invite people to vote directly for the next Prime Minister.
Details of the candidates in this potentially critical election will be posted once they are officially confirmed.
